Pompey’s attention will soon be turning to the FA Cup, with the first-round draw for the 2020-21 competition set to take place on Monday.

The Blues got to the fifth round last term following wins against Harrogate, Altrincham, Fleetwood and Barnsley – only to be beaten at Fratton Park by eventual winners Arsenal.

That run boosted the Fratton Park coffers just before the onset of coronavirus and games being played behind closed doors.

And no doubt another extended run in the Cup this season will suit Pompey, who, of course, last lifted the famous old trophy back in 2008.

So here’s all you need to know ahead of the first-round draw…

When will the draw take place and how can we follow it?

The draw will take place tomorrow night and be screened live on the FA’s official Twitter and Facebook channels as well as BT Sport.

It’s scheduled to take place at around 7.10pm – just before BT Sport’s coverage of the fourth-round qualifying tie between Bishop's Stortford and St Albans City, the final tie of the round.

What ball number do we need to look out for?

Pompey will be ball number 77 in the draw.

The Hawks could be possible opponents for Pompey, after Paul Doswell’s side saw off Bath City 3-0 on Saturday in the fourth qualifying round.

The last time the Westleigh Park side reached the first-round proper was in the 2014-15 season, when they lost 3-0 at home to Preston.

The Hawks will be ball number 75 in tomorrow night’s draw.

Eastleigh (73) have also made the latest stage of the competition, after they beat Weston-super-Mare 3-1 yesterday.

Blues academy product Dan Smith scored the Spitfires’ first goal in that win at the Silverlake Stadium.

When will first-round games be played?

Games will be played the weekend of Saturday, November 7.

No League One fixtures were scheduled for that weekend.

What’s the prize money for winning a first-round tie?

First-round-proper winners will receive £22,629 for progressing to the next round – a figure that could be added to depending on TV coverage.

The Hawks picked up a welcome £9,375 for their victory over Bath City on Saturday.
