Valley Parade hero Gareth Evans is gunning for more goal glory as he closes in on Pompey's leading-scorer mantle.

The Blues skipper registered his fifth of the campaign as he emerged as the matchwinner in Saturday's 1-0 triumph over struggling Bradford.

Converting Ronan Curtis' left-wing pull back on 12 minutes, it represented the 24th goal of his Pompey career.

In terms of this season, Evans is now narrowly behind Jamal Lowe and Curtis, who have each netted six times.

And the former Bantam is eyeing more as he continues to revel in the number 10 role for the League One leaders.

He said: '˜I still feel that in every game I will get one or two decent chances '“ and it's just the case of trying to hit the target.

'˜If I'm playing an attacking role I will score goals and have proven that in the past and hopefully that will continue.
