St George's pride will help charity for friends

ENGLISH patriotism and helping a good cause will be the order of the day at a fish and chip chain this weekend.

Whistler’s Fish and Chips supports a charity every year on St George’s Day and this year has decided to support Friend Finder.

The charity is the brainchild of 14-year-old Lewis Hine, from Havant, who wanted to make sure all young people have friends.

Lewis has been through 12 brain surgeries and spent most of his life in hospital, so struggled to make lasting friends.

Since setting up the charity last year, more than 200 children have made new pals.

All three shops in Fareham, Westbourne and Hayling will be selling cod and chips or sausage and chips for £1 on Saturday.

Owner Rana Denholm hopes people will use their savings on the meals to donate to the charity buckets.

The Hayling shop will also be raising money for John Geden to help rebuild his apiary, which was badly damaged in Storm Katie last month.
