Seagull menace costs Portsmouth council tax payers more than £60,000
The amount is revealed in a breakdown of costs that shows how much local authorities spend on ridding streets of pigeons and gulls has almost doubled in the past three years.
About two-thirds of England’s local councils responded to the BBC’s Freedom of Information Act request on bird control.

Hide AdThe responses show that the amount spent rose increased from £452,000 in 2013-2014 to £830,000 in 2015-2016.
The biggest spender was London Borough of Southwark, with a total bill of £393,000 since 2013.
Portsmouth city council said in its response that it spent £63,000 in the period 2013-2016.
