In a statement on its website, the company said: ‘We’re sorry for the loss of supply – we currently have a fault affecting the area.

‘Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.’

SSEN is hoping to have power restored in the area by 2pm.

Anyone looking for more information on the power cut can call SSEN by dialling 105, quoting the reference numbers GA7073 and GA7117.

A further power outage has been reported in Clanfield, though this is due to a planned outage for maintenance work.
