Hide AdWhile two people had to be treated for ‘minor burns’, firefighters said it ‘could have been a different outcome’ if it had not been for the couple’s adult daughter noticing smoke after getting up to get a drink of water.
A firefighter from Southsea who attended the incident said: ‘There were no smoke alarms in the house and they were lucky the daughter had awoken at this time to get a drink. This really highlights the importance of having a working smoke alarm in your house.’
While the source of the fire was a tumble dryer the exact cause is not yet known.
