Grant, of Brockhurst Road, has been charged with three counts of theft from a shop.

This includes taking £105.50 worth of alcohol last Friday and £139.50 worth of booze on twice.

Those two incidents took place last Saturday and on Wednesday respectively.

A Hampshire police spokesman said Grant was detained while out on licence for a previous offence and has been recalled to prison to serve the rest of that term, instead of being on licence.

For the shoplifting charges, the spokesman added: ‘He was bailed and is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on October 27.’
