Frustrated with your internet connection? Do the kids have to stop gaming so you can work? Can’t watch films without the annoying breaks for buffering?

It’s a sign that it’s time to switch to a full-fibre broadband connection. But what exactly is that, why do you need it and, with a bewildering number of broadband providers out there, how do you choose what’s right for you?

toob is a new broadband provider in Hampshire offering full-fibre that is simply reliable, with one high speed and one low price.

There are many internet service providers on the market, but toob simply offer 900Mbps download and upload speed for just £25 per month on an 18-month contract. Available on the City Fibre network in Portsmouth, Southsea, and Havant, toob is currently building its own full-fibre network in neighbouring towns Gosport and Lee-on-Solent whilst live in Fareham and the city of Southampton.

But what exactly is full-fibre and how can the technology benefit you?

What is full-fibre?

Full-fibre broadband (FTTP) is where a fibre optic internet connection is bought directly into your premises, literally bringing broadband at the speed of light into your home. Standard fibre broadband (FTTC), which most people have, brings fibre to the cabinet in your street, but then uses old copper cables from the cabinet to your property. The copper cables slow down your internet connection as they were built for telephone lines, not transmitting data, so it's prone to disruption, drop-outs and buffering.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of a full-fibre connection include reliability as the internet connection is more stable, and reliable; less prone to interference and dropping out. This makes downloading and uploading faster and more streamlined, giving you more time to watch, work and surf and less time watching the wheel of doom spin round and annoying buffering delays.

The 900 Mbps speed means you’ll have bigger bandwidth, simply meaning more devices can be connected without affecting performance of your internet. You know how it is when everyone in your household has connected their devices and someone’s streaming music, or gaming and your internet has slowed to a crawl. With toob, over 100 devices can be connected at the same time, with no effect on each other.

toob customers Pedro and Natalia said: “Before we moved provider, we suffered from constant (almost weekly) internet breakdowns and painfully slow download speeds. It was especially bad when multiple users would connect at the same time and made things like online meetings or even streaming a movie especially difficult!”

Since installing toob, we are now able to download large amounts of data much faster without any disruption. The speeds are amazing (even over wi-fi!). This has been great for us personally as we often stream music, TV shows and films at the same time and have had no issues with buffering.”

So far, we are very happy! With toob you get exactly what you asked for, hyperfast internet at a good price.”

How to choose the best for you

According to the Citizens Advice Bureau 75 per cent of us find information on adverts for broadband too complex to compare deals. but toob like to keep things simple, with one high speed of 900 Mbps download and upload and one low cost of £25 per month, giving you 15 times faster downloads and 64 times faster uploads than the UK average!

And toob has a price promise - they don’t raise their prices mid-contract like many big providers – the £25 per month stays the same even when it comes time to renew.

There’s no wonder toob is multi-award winning, recently named Best Urban Fibre Provider and came second and highly commended as the Overall Fibre Provider of the Year in the industry’s 2023 UK Fibre Awards. toob has also been awarded SME Business of the Year at the Central South Business Awards 2023.
