THE number of people with diabetes has doubled in the last 20 years '“ and one charity is trying to make sure as much help as possible is at hand.

The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation hosted a wellness day to help those living with diabetes and provide them with advice on delaying type two diabetes – which can be brought on by an unhealthy lifestyle – and managing and treating type one – an autoimmune condition.

Research administrator, Sarah Brown said: ‘It is fantastic for people because with the NHS and the strain it is under you have to give people a certain amount of information so they can be aware of their own health.’
